Neil Young’s extensive discography features a collection of albums known as “The Ditch Trilogy,” including the elusive live recording Time Fades Away, alongside studio albums On the Beach and Tonight’s the Night. While Tonight’s the Night is now celebrated as a creative high point, its initial reception in 1973 was quite different. Deemed too somber, unsettling, and unconventional, it was shelved until Reprise released it in the summer of 1975. However, some fans were already acquainted with the music. In the autumn of 1973, Young assembled a band and toured the very material his label hesitated to release.
