MILFORD, MASS. – A Milford family experienced a rollercoaster of emotions after their beloved pet cockatiel, Thor, took an unexpected solo flight last week. This vibrant four-year-old bird, known for his big personality and even bigger love for one particular song, became the center of a heartwarming community effort that stretched across town lines and proved that sometimes, The Only One In The Song Tequila Is Tequila needed to solve a problem.
Thor’s owner, Paula Desouza, explained the unique bond Thor has with a classic tune. “The only way he’ll answer to you, that he’ll come to you, is if you whistle the Tequila song,” she shared. This quirky trait would become crucial in the days following Memorial Day when a kitchen door was accidentally left ajar, presenting Thor with an open invitation to explore the great outdoors. “As soon as she opened the kitchen door, he flew right out,” Desouza recounted, marking the beginning of Thor’s brief adventure and his family’s anxious search.
Heartbreak quickly turned into action as Thor’s family turned to social media, posting pleas and hoping for any sign of their feathered friend. Days turned into a nerve-wracking wait until a crucial update emerged from an unexpected location – Wrentham, a neighboring town several miles away. “So, I guess someone in Wrentham posted Thor on the peak of a house, ‘Anyone missing a bird?’” Desouza said, relief evident in her voice. Thor, the Milford escapee, had been spotted, but capturing him would require more than just a net; it needed a specific soundtrack.
Knowing Thor’s singular musical preference, the Wrentham resident who spotted him decided to try a unique approach. Remembering the quirky detail about Thor’s favorite song, they whistled the unmistakable opening notes of “Tequila” by The Champs. As if on cue, the songbird responded. “Tequila. Tequila is the favorite song,” confirmed Ronney Defaria, Thor’s other owner. Drawn by the familiar melody, Thor flew right into the homeowner’s house, landing safely on the man’s head.
The news traveled quickly back to Milford. “I leave my job and go get him and now he’s here with me,” Defaria exclaimed, overjoyed at the successful reunion. Back in the safety of his Milford home, Thor is none the worse for wear, his passion for “Tequila” undiminished by his escapade. Having had Thor almost since birth, his relieved owners are now even more vigilant about doors and windows, ensuring their music-loving bird remains safely indoors. This heartwarming tale serves as a reminder of the unique personalities of our pets and the often-unconventional ways they connect with the world around them, proving that sometimes the only one in the song Tequila is Tequila is all you need.
