Herman’s Hermits Songs to Get Clear Vinyl Release for 50th Anniversary of British Invasion

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the British Invasion, ABKCO Records is set to release a clear vinyl edition of Herman’s Hermits’ Their Greatest Hits on August 12th. This release joins ABKCO’s Clearly Classic series, following the successful clear vinyl releases of six Rolling Stones titles in recent years. The album will be pressed on 180-gram vinyl, featuring the original album art. Carl Rowatti at Trutone Mastering cut the lacquers from high-resolution audio sources mastered at Gateway Mastering, ensuring top-notch sound quality.

Herman’s Hermits, emerging from Manchester, were at the forefront of the British Invasion with their fresh-faced appeal. Fronted by the charismatic vocalist Peter Noone, the band brought their distinctive sound, a mix of catchy pop melodies and traditional English music hall influences, to global audiences starting in 1964. Their breakthrough hit, “I’m Into Something Good,” soared to No. 1 in the UK and cracked the top 20 in the US, marking their arrival on the international music scene.

The year 1965 proved to be pivotal for Herman’s Hermits songs in America. They achieved two No. 1 hits in the U.S. with the Grammy-nominated “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter” and the uniquely titled “I’m Henry VIII, I Am.” Remarkably, in 1965, Herman’s Hermits even surpassed The Beatles to become the top-selling pop act in the United States, a testament to their widespread popularity and the infectious nature of their music. Their Greatest Hits compilation covers their most successful period, from mid-1964 to early 1967. It includes other top 5 singles such as “Can’t You Hear My Heartbeat” and “(What A) Wonderful World,” a song originally written and recorded by Sam Cooke, which Herman’s Hermits made their own. The album also features “Dandy,” a track that became a bigger hit for them than for their fellow British Invasion band, The Kinks. All tracks on Their Greatest Hits were expertly produced by the renowned Mickie Most.

Peter Noone shared his enthusiasm for this release, stating, “I am really excited that my group Herman’s Hermits are now part of ABKCO’s Clearly Classic series with the release of the original recordings of our greatest hits on high quality, clear vinyl. I know our fans will appreciate hearing our music the way it was when we recorded it.” This clear vinyl edition offers fans a fantastic opportunity to experience these classic Herman’s Hermits songs in their original glory, highlighting why they remain beloved decades after the British Invasion.
