Explore the Legacy of Songwriting Greats at the Hall of Fame Song Exhibit

For over half a century, the Songwriters Hall of Fame has stood as a beacon, honoring and celebrating the remarkable individuals who craft the soundtracks of our lives – the greatest songwriters and composers of our time. Now, the GRAMMY Museum® proudly presents The Power of Song: A Songwriters Hall of Fame Exhibit, an immersive experience dedicated to exploring the profound impact of these musical architects and unraveling the magic behind their timeless creations. This newly expanded traveling exhibit, which premiered at the GRAMMY Museum on April 26, 2023, and will be on display until September 4, 2023, offers a unique journey into the heart of songwriting.

Through captivating displays of artifacts, an insightful original film, and engaging interactive elements, The Power of Song: A Songwriters Hall of Fame Exhibit delves into the intricate creative processes of songwriters. It shares compelling stories of legendary figures – all inductees of the Songwriters Hall of Fame or recipients of special awards – and meticulously examines the celebrated compositions that form the bedrock of the American music heritage. Curated by Jasen Emmons, the GRAMMY Museum’s Chief Curator & VP of Curatorial Affairs, and Kelsey Goelz, the GRAMMY Museum’s Associate Curator, this exhibit serves as a powerful tribute to the artists whose contributions have enriched America’s vibrant songwriting legacy. The GRAMMY Museum has been a significant physical anchor for the Songwriters Hall of Fame since 2010, fostering a strong and enduring partnership.

This ongoing collaboration between the Museum and the Hall of Fame has given rise to this illuminating traveling exhibition, designed to demystify the art of songwriting and offer visitors an intimate glimpse into the creative journeys behind beloved songs. After its initial launch at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York, the exhibit has been significantly expanded for its Los Angeles debut. This enhanced version features a wealth of never-before-seen artifacts representing the illustrious careers of songwriting icons such as Tom Petty, Allee Willis, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s current Chairman, Nile Rodgers, among many others. Furthermore, interactive content allows visitors to explore an extensive database of Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees and engage with “song spotlights,” where renowned songwriters themselves explain the genesis of their iconic tracks.
