Hey there, music lovers! Miss Nina here from payoffsong.com, and I’m thrilled to bring you a splash of fun with a topic close to my heart (and lily pad!): Frog Songs! Even though I was under the weather recently, I couldn’t wait to share some musical joy with you. While spring might be the season that first comes to mind for these amphibians, trust me, frog songs are fantastic fun for children any time of the year.
Kids are naturally captivated by frogs. Their unique appearance, hopping movements, and of course, those distinctive ribbits spark curiosity and wonder. And what better way to explore this fascination than through music? Frog songs are a fantastic way to engage children, encouraging movement, singing, and even learning!
So, are you ready to jump into a collection of frog songs perfect for your little ones? Here are a few of my favorites that are sure to bring smiles and maybe even a little “ribbiting” along:
1. Ba-Rump! (Went The Little Green Frog)
This silly song is an absolute blast! You might also know it as Ga-Lumph! or Oom-Ah! Its infectious rhythm and fun sounds make it irresistible for kids. I love it so much that I included my version on my album Sha Doo Be Doop. You can find “Ba-Rump!” on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and all your favorite music platforms. Get ready to ba-rump and ga-lumph your way to fun!
2. 5 Green & Speckled Frogs
A timeless classic! “5 Green & Speckled Frogs” is not only a super catchy frog song but also a fantastic counting and subtraction lesson disguised as musical play. The repetitive lyrics, fun word “speckled,” and the “yum yum” sound effects make it incredibly engaging. Kids love acting out this song, making it a classroom and home favorite for generations. Watch those speckled frogs jump into the pool, one by one!
3. FROGS! (One Morning)
This song, originally titled “One Morning” by Shirley Cohen Steinerg, has a fun twist. While it’s based on a Passover story about the ten plagues, with a tiny tweak, it transforms into a wonderfully silly frog song for any occasion. The original lyrics mention “Pharaoh,” but simply swap that name out – for example, with “Miss Nina”! Imagine singing:
“One morning when Miss Nina woke in her bed, there were frogs in her bed and frogs on her head. Frogs on her nose and frogs on her toes. Frogs here. Frogs there. Frogs were jumping everywhere!”
I’ve even added my own arrangement to this song, incorporating rhythms and pauses perfect for jumping and ribbiting along. It’s guaranteed to bring giggles!
4. The Brown Bear Rap (Featuring a Froggy Friend!)
Okay, while not solely a frog song, “The Brown Bear Rap” earns its place on this list because of a special froggy cameo! Inspired by the beloved book “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?”, my rap version includes a nod to the classic rhyme “I have a little frog, his name is Tiny Tim.” This adds a fun, familiar frog element into a song about different animals. It’s a great way to expand your frog song repertoire with a broader animal theme!
So there you have it – a collection of fun and engaging frog songs to get your kids moving, singing, and learning! I hope these tunes bring lots of joy to your day. I’m off to rest up and gather my energy to create even more musical fun for you all.
