The anime adaptation of Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian has garnered significant attention and acclaim. It was voted as the most anticipated anime of the season and has consistently topped weekly anime rankings, securing the number one spot for three out of the first five weeks. The story originates from a light novel series penned by SunSunSun and brought to life with illustrations by Momoco. Initially, the series began as online short stories on the self-publishing platform Shosetsuka ni Naro in May 2020, before being picked up by Kadokawa Shoten’s Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint in 2021.

For manga enthusiasts, a manga adaptation illustrated by Saho Tenamachi has been serialized in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket since October 2022, further expanding the Roshidere universe. English-speaking fans can also delve into the original story, as Yen Press has licensed the light novel for English publication.
The official synopsis of the series offers a glimpse into the charming premise: Alya-san, the girl seated next to Masachika Kuze, is known for her icy demeanor towards him. However, unbeknownst to those around them, Alya occasionally whispers sweet nothings to Masachika in Russian. Masachika, possessing fluent Russian skills, catches every word. This sets the stage for a delightful romantic comedy where Alya believes her affections are secret, while Masachika playfully pretends to be oblivious.
