Hello music lovers! Doug McIntosh here, and welcome to my corner of the web dedicated to sharing the songs that resonate with me. This is intended to be a weekly rendezvous, every Monday, where I delve into a track that’s been on my mind. Since Mondays can sometimes be a bit of a drag, what better way to start than by celebrating the very first day of the week with a song about it?
For my inaugural post, I’m taking it back to 1966, a time when rock and roll was evolving, and pop music was reaching new heights of sophistication. Growing up immersed in the sounds of the 50s and 60s, I’ve developed an appreciation for a wide spectrum of music. And today, it all comes back to a particular tune that perfectly encapsulates both the promise and the potential letdown of the start of the work week: “Monday Monday” by The Mamas & the Papas.
This iconic track was a defining hit from their album If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears, and for me, it’s more than just a catchy melody. It’s a nostalgic trip back to an era of incredible musical innovation. For years, I relied on Grooveshark as my go-to music streaming service to access gems like this and build extensive playlists. While Grooveshark is no longer with us, the spirit of discovering and sharing music lives on, now often through platforms like YouTube. The convenience of having vast music libraries at our fingertips is something I truly value, and it’s what initially inspired me to share my musical musings online.

So, as we embark on another week, take a moment to appreciate the harmonious blend of vocals and the bittersweet lyrics of “Monday Monday”. It’s a perfect tune to reflect on the week ahead and maybe, just maybe, make your Monday a little brighter. Happy listening!
