This fresh, live-action reimagining masterfully blends nostalgic elements with innovative additions, making it both familiar and uniquely engaging for a contemporary audience. It’s a delightful fusion of the beloved classic with modern cinematic flair, boasting stunning special effects, enchanting new Aladdin Film Songs, and characters brought vividly to life on screen. Imagine a Broadway musical interwoven with cutting-edge visuals – that’s the magic of this new Disney masterpiece!

From the opening scene to the very last credit, the film is an exhilarating adventure. Even for those who know the animated version by heart, this live-action rendition feels entirely new and surprising. You’re constantly anticipating your favorite musical moments and scenes, and when they arrive, they’re revitalized, offering a fresh perspective on the timeless story. The pacing is relentless, keeping you engrossed and eager for what’s next.

For me, the heart of Aladdin truly lies in its music and dance. As a lifelong dancer, I have a deep appreciation for compelling choreography and music, and this film elevates both to spectacular heights. It brilliantly incorporates all the cherished Aladdin songs from the original soundtrack while introducing a powerful new anthem, “Speechless,” performed by Naomi Scott as Jasmine. This standout track, “Speechless”, a significant addition to the Aladdin film songs, was crafted by Tony and Oscar winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, in collaboration with the legendary original composer Alan Menken. “Speechless” is more than just a song; it’s an emotional tour-de-force and a pivotal moment in the film, undoubtedly worthy of an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. Days after seeing the film, these Aladdin film songs are still playing on repeat in my mind! The choreography, masterminded by Jamal Sims, is simply breathtaking. The dance sequences were so captivating, they sparked an irresistible urge to join in and dance along!

Adding to the visual feast, the costume design is nothing short of spectacular. Each costume piece is a masterpiece, bursting with vibrant and inviting colors. While the Genie, portrayed by Will Smith, boasts some truly remarkable outfits, Jasmine’s wardrobe is particularly exquisite and elaborate. The sheer scale of the costumes is astounding; during the “Prince Ali” musical number alone, there were 250 dancers and 200 extras, with Michael Wilkinson and his team creating over 200 costumes from scratch just for the extras. An incredible feat of artistry and dedication!
It’s genuinely difficult to pick a favorite character, as each actor embodies their role with perfection, creating compelling on-screen chemistry. Mena Massoud’s Aladdin is the quintessential charming hero, instantly capturing your heart. Naomi Scott’s Jasmine is radiant and regal. She embodies intelligence, strength, and grace, becoming an instant role model for young viewers. Will Smith steps into the formidable shoes of the Genie and delivers a performance that is both hilarious and heartwarming, eliciting constant laughter from the audience. However, it was Marwan Kenzari’s portrayal of Jafar that was most surprising. Despite being the villain, Kenzari brings a compelling depth and intensity to the character, making him captivating to watch. Lucinda Syson deserves immense credit for such impeccable casting choices.

Throughout the movie, I experienced a full spectrum of emotions, from laughter and joy to moments that genuinely brought tears to my eyes. The film is infused with so much heart and emotion that it resonates deeply with the audience. You will undoubtedly fall in love with Aladdin and Jasmine all over again, experiencing their enchanting world in a whole new light.

Directed by Guy Ritchie and rated PG, Aladdin is a fantastic cinematic experience for the entire family. While generally family-friendly, parents of very young children or those with sensory sensitivities might want to preview the film due to some intense scenes and louder moments.

Aladdin premiered in theaters on May 24th, and if it isn’t already clear, it comes with my highest recommendation! It’s a film you’ll want to experience more than once, and I guarantee the Aladdin film songs will become instant classics in your household.
